Getting set up for Christmas with ORM

Christmas starts almost 3 months in advance here!

The presents start arriving from Ireland.

When you are dealing with so many children, the countdown to Christmas begins early!

First off there is the reason for Christmas; for all of us here at ORM, it is all about the Children, for some it will be their first Christmas, for others sadly it will be their last. For this reason we always try to make Christmas special for each and every one of them.

Each child deserves a childhood and while many people complain of how commercialized Christmas has become, for some children Christmas didn’t even exist. With the help of an army of volunteers from both home and in Moldova we were able to provide Christmas and Santa for over 1000 Children.

And they keep arriving

A HUGE debt of gratitude goes to all of you that sent over presents and care packages to the children especially:

  • St Mary’s Youth Centre, Co Offaly
  • Ulster Bank Dublin
  • Old Bawn School, Tallaght
  • Murrays Pharmacy, Killiney
  • All our volunteers and child sponsors that sent over gifts

All gifts came in fully packed shoe boxes, wrapped with such care and with put together with so much thought for the child receiving them. The preparations of these gifts began in October and the shipping of them began in November all so they could reach their destination on time. It took an army of you at home in Ireland to organise all the gifts and your efforts were received with such love and excitement.

And of course ORM would like to thank all in Moldova that gave a helping hand and made Christmas so special including;

  • Digricom Suppliers
  • Becor Pharmaceutical Suppliers
  • Hincesti Lord Mayor
  • MGM Suppliers

You provided them with sweets, biscuits, soft drinks, juice, cake and all the goodies that children love but here are so terribly infrequent.

We have such a wonderful staff base here that organized all the gifts according to the child’s age, capability and suitability. The entire ground floor of block B became a warehouse and an assembly room for gifts and honestly looked like something out of a Christmas film. Just perfect.

The word “thanks” or “thank you” just will never suffice to all those that took part and made magic for so many children. You are truly wonderful.
